The counter at the bottom of my Kodak Automatic 35F is stuck at 9. Help?

I'm trying to take pictures with this camera, but the counter has to read "1" in order to start shooting. How would I fix this? I'm using 35mm film and I'm a beginner at photography. Tips on loading film would be nice as well. Thanks in advance!
