Why does my camera keep freezing up?

I have a Kodak M1063 and whenever i turn it on it freezes and won't turn off so i have to let it die but the lens stays open. The last one to use it was my cousin, and he took a ton of pictures in about an hour, and about a week later i went to turn it on for the dance i was going to go to and thats when it it starting freezing and it's been doing this for about a month.
